There are no words to express our sorrow and such a void which can never be filled as Dr. Mandakini Anand Parihar, the current first Vice-President of FOGSI, passed away on September 10, 2012, after bravely fighting and living with a serious illness. She was a dynamic, vibrant, dedicated person, great human being with high values, and a committed professional. She would never shy away from speaking her mind and standing up for any cause she believed in, but presented pleasantly.

Born on August 2, 1962, Dr. Mandakini Parikh always demonstrated a phenomenal passion, determination, and a dream to excel. She did her undergraduation and postgraduation from Lokmanya Tilak Medical College - Sion Hospital. Later she pursued her career in assisted reproduction and set up her practice at Mandakini IVF Centre and Mangal Anand Hospital, Chembur, Mumbai.

Dr. Mandakini Parihar was an Honorary Assistant Professor at Somaiya Medical College, Mumbai, and also served at Fortis-Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai.

During her illustrious career, she shouldered many organizational responsibilities serving as a President of Navi Mumbai Obs-Gyn Society, Chairperson of FOGSI - Family Welfare Committee, first Vice-President FOGSI-2012, Secretary to the President of FOGSI - Dr. Sadhana Desai, Honorary Librarian ISAR, National advisor for Journal of Human Reproductive Sciences - an official publication of ISAR, President elect of Maharashtra chapter of ISAR, and an active member of ICOG. She was an integral part of many major events and conferences organized by FOGSI, ICOG, and ISAR.

She was married to her batchmate Dr. Anand Parihar, a radiologist, who was her pillar of strength, offering unconditional support to Mandakini, an emotional foil and soul mate she was proud of, and someone she completely depended upon and proudly shared her life. They have two lovely sons - Rushva and Jash.

For all those who knew her, she was a friend, an epitome of taste, grace, and elegance, an honest, fair, and open-hearted individual who easily and effortlessly inspired loyalty and friendship. Her memories will remain alive by her contribution in every aspect of life.

We express our heartfelt condolence and pray God to give strength to her husband Anand, children, family and all friends affected by her demise at a young age.

May God give her eternal peace and bless her soul.
